Ben just finished heading up Catalyst West Coast for seven days last week, and we've been relaxing as a family this week. Hence no posts. It's been great to wake up late, grab Starbucks together and stroll around some parks and shopping centers. The weather's been beautiful. We're all relaxed. Ben goes back to work today, but it's been a fun little hiatus.

Nightly Ritual

1. Take off clothes.
2. Jump in parents' bed.
3. Run around yelling, "I'm naked! I'm naked!"
3. Take bath.
4. Storytime.

Guys and Dolls

Whenever I browse through the Pottery Barn Kids store at the mall, Wyatt and Dylan gravitate to the girls' side of the store. Since our house is mainly comprised of trucks, trains and superheroes, it's like a whole new playing field for them. Dylan is especially fond of dollhouses and could literally spend hours arranging furniture and setting up home for the tiny dolls and (of course) his miniature cars.

Swedish Clothing Giveaway For Kids

Well, if you're like me, then this clothing brand will be completely new to you. Polarn O. Pyret is a Swedish clothing company that is just making it's entrance into the U.S.

They specialize in unisex clothing for babies and kids and are known for their trademark stripes in blue and red. But they also have an array of other cute clothes for boys and girls, too.

Bedtime Stories

Amidst all of the squabbles and chaos involved in raising 2 boisterous boys, there are the occasional sweet moments that make you temporarily forget the rest. Last night was one of them...

After getting the boys bathed and ready for bed, I headed downstairs to get Dylan's medicine. When I returned, Wyatt had set up Dylan's nebulizer and had him doing a breathing treatment while he read a few books to him. I just sat on the floor and watched them together... grateful for such a sweet ending to an otherwise exhausting day.

Starbucks Is Going Gluten-Free

Just saw that Starbucks is going to be offering a gluten-free pastry starting May 5th. The pastry is called Valencia Orange Cake and will be sold in individually-wrapped packages for $2.25 a piece.

This is exciting news for more than 3 million Americans who suffer from a condition called celiac disease. It's pretty difficult for them to eat out in general, but finding a sweet treat on the go is near impossible. So glad that Starbucks is finally getting on the gluten-free bandwagon!

Tomorrow is Iced Coffee Day at Dunkin' Donuts

Dunkin’ Donuts has declared April 21 (that's tomorrow!) as Iced Coffee Day, a one-day event when Dunkin’ stores throughout the country will sell small iced coffees for the reduced price of 50 cents.

An Accomplishment I'm Not Thrilled About

This morning, Wyatt yelled from the bathroom, "Hey Mommy... I can pee without looking!"

That's not really something I want to hear from my 4-year-old BOY, who until recently had trouble with his aim while looking.

26 Weeks

Tomorrow marks the first day of my 27th week, so Ben took a few belly shots last night before bed. I'm already getting comments about "being ready to pop" and "any day now, right?" Seriously, I know my belly looks big but just wait another 3 months. This will look mighty nice and small then.=)

I Spoke Too Soon

Apparently, we weren't out of the woods yet with Dylan's virus... yesterday his fever spiked again to record highs and his doctor finally prescribed a potent anitibiotic, for fear that the unidentifiable infection was more than just a virus.

It's scary to watch your child get worse when they should be getting better... I literally spent all of Wednesday with Dylan's limp body draped across my legs while he drifted in and out of fever-induced sleep.

Thankfully, my sweet boy is doing much better today, and I'm hoping he'll make a full recovery by the weekend.

Bouncing Back

I knew today would be a better day with Dylan when I heard him cheerfully calling from his bed at 6 am this morning, "Paaaaaa - ceeeeeee... where are you?" (That's what he calls his pacifier.)

He's still croupy but his fever is down and his personality is creeping back to life... a tell-tale sign that he's on the road to recovery. Thanks for all your well wishes!

Viral Infection With an Extra Helping of Croup

I spent 2 hours at the pediatrician's office this morning with Dylan, who is going on day 5 of fever and barking cough. Strep and flu tests were both negative and his ears and lungs looked good. Despite not getting a clear diagnosis and feeling like I could've figured out virus and croup on my own, it's comforting to rule out what he doesn't have. As a mom, I like to know I'm doing all I can... which for now is giving him lots of love, fluids, vitamin c and zinc. =)

Dylan was traumatized from getting the strep and flu swabs. Exhausted from crying, he passed out in my arms while we waited for the results.

An Unusual Easter

Halfway between Virginia and Georgia on our trip home from Virgina Beach, Dylan came down with a fever and his "barking" cough returned. He was still pretty sick on Sunday morning, and both of us were sleep-deprived from late night nebulizer treatments.

So instead of getting dressed up and heading to an anticipated Easter service, we stayed home and reflected on the Resurrection over Starbucks and side-walk chalk. Wyatt loved testing out his drawing skills with giant chalk on the back patio...

Sweet Sadie Bug

My 6 month-old-niece Sadie was a lady bug for Halloween and ever since we've all started calling her Sadie Bug. She is the sweetest baby and has Wyatt completely enamored. Yesterday, he asked, "What is Sadie's full name? Sadie Bug what?"

Spring Break

I'm in Va Beach this week with the boys visiting family. The weather isn't conducive for a real beach week... but I figure in another month, I'll be too big and uncomfortable to make the long trek by car. It was still warm when we rolled into town on Saturday night, so I took the boys down to the beach to unwind from our travel. I love how the ocean instantly relaxes me, especially after a 10-hour car trip.

Easter Egg Hunt

Last week, Dylan and I went to Wyatt's school for an Easter Egg Hunt and a Spring Party in his classroom. The egg hunt got rained out, so they hid the eggs in the classroom... but the kids still had a blast. The kids searched for the eggs with their name on them, which made it easy for me to prepare 18 "special" eggs for Wyatt, filled with toys and allergy-free candies. Wyatt's favorite part of the day was when he got to open the eggs at home and discover all his booty.=)

Emotional Side Effects of Pregnancy

The other day I was on the elliptical at the gym and a commercial for the Red Cross came on the television. Random people were walking around thanking the unlikely heroes that donated blood and saved their lives. By the end, I was literally weeping... and making a complete fool of myself in the middle of the gym. Gotta love those pregnancy hormones.=)
