Hi! I'm Ainsley, and I'm the mother of two adventurous little boys named Wyatt and Dylan. I'm here to blog about the joys of parenting and all the resources out there to help us. But most of all, I hope you'll come back here for a community of friends.
Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani released the first official photo of their new baby Zuma, 10 weeks old, on Gwen's website this week. He's definitely a cutie, and his name... well, whatdo you thinkof his name?
Here's a guy who takes pumpkin carving to a whole new level. In fact, Ray'spumpkins are actually more like sculptures... and you can see the rest of his creations [here]. He also offers a free tutuorial on his site that shows how you can create your very own pumpkin art. Happy Halloween!
On Monday, my sweet blogging friend, Anna, gave birth to a beautiful boy named Kellan Daniel. Kellan joins 3 older siblings, which means he will be a very loved little baby. =)
I loved seeing all thefans that came decked out in their 80s garb...scrunchies, jean jackets, leg warmers, New Kids' buttons, and even crimped hair. It was like 1989 all over again.
Last night was ablast, and I have 8 billion pictures to prove it. Unfortunately, they're all on my real camera... so all you get today are a few from myphone cam. Here are some of the major events from the eve:
Natasha Bedingfield was awesome and a total surprise as the opening act
Lady GaGa, not so much
Got to eat at Cinco's Mexican Cantina for the 1st time
The scream factor was unbelievable - my eardrums are still pulsating
All of the bathrooms were for Women, even if they said Men
"Please don't go girl"
A semi-drunk woman spilled her beer all over my jeans and shoes in the bathroom =(
My sitter for the boys was incredible
Got home after midnight, much to the dismay of my body that shut down around 10 PM
If all goes as planned, this is who I will be seeing tonight at the Gwinnett Arena. I'm still wondering why on earth I let my friends talk me into this!
Little boys come in all shapes and sizes,
Shy and adventurous, full of surprises,
With misshapen halos and mischievous grins,
Small dirty faces, and sweet, sticky chins.
They'll keep you so busy, and yet all the while
Nothing can brighten the world like their smile.
And no greater treasure has brought homes more joy
Than a curious, active, and lovable boy.
On our vacation to Charleston, South Carolina this past August, we shot some film footage of our trip on a vintage super 8 camera. We finally got the film back from the processing center and uploaded to Vimeo. Here's a taste of our experience.
Going "green" has become so fashionable that just about everyone claims that they do it. Me included. But I just read a book over the weekend that really opened my eyes in regards to living green. Sloan Barnett, a journalist and contributor to NBC's Today show, recently wrote a book called, Green Goes with Everything. It's about how we can help our families, our children, and our planet... by creating healthier homes.
It's more of a guidebook... I'll let you read the really good stuff for yourself, but I pulled a few energy saving tips out of my notes that I'll pass along:
Unplug your cell phone charger when not in use. Cell phone charges keep drawing power and wasting energy even after the phone is fully charged.
Plug all your entertainment equipment into one powerstrip and snap it off when you're not actually using them.
Stick a dollar bill between the fridge and door in several places; if it pulls out without tugging it means the rubber gaskets that seal the door are shot and are wasting energy. Replace them.
Only run the dishwasher when it is completely full, and let the dishes air dry by turning off the power dry feature.
Replace your lightbulbs with energy-efficient and long-lasting fluorescent bulbs.
If you haven't already stocked up on candy for October 31st, consider going a healthier route this year. These Yummy Earth Lollipops are so delicious that your trick-or-treaters won't think they've been cheated by getting a healthy treat.=)
I love that there are some wonderful products out there that prove you don't have tocompromise great taste for healthy convictions. And these pops are one of our family's personal faves. You can buy them in 1lb bulk bags at Whole Foods, Navan Foods, or any of these other locations.
At the pumpkin patch, Dylan found a bumpy pumpkin that he carried around saying, "my bunky punkin." Is it just me or is this stage of talking the most adorable thing in the world?
My 4 ½ year old son, Wyatt, loves to tell us stories about when he was baby. I love listening to his tales for 2 reasons. First, he always recalls his memory of infanthood like it was yesterday, including life in the womb. And second, he always prefaces them like this:
When I was a little baby like Dylan, and Dylan was a big boy like me...
After the gym today, Dylan and I had a little lunch date at the cafe across the street, where we split a Greek Salad and a Banana Strawberry Smoothie. He's actually quite the conversationalist... when he's not concentrated on guzzling down his "shoobie."
Today I'm so grateful for my niece Sadie and for the 3 days I got to spend with her last week. I know I keep saying this, but she is really such a sweet and happy baby... I swear she smiled at me at least a dozen times (and not the kind of smiles you're thinking of =). Wyatt and Dylan were such cutie pies, cuddling up with Sadie and often fighting over who was going to get tohold her.
In top photo: Me (looking a little haggardly), Tiffany (looking gorgeous as always), and my Mom (looking proud to be sitting next to her first granddaughter)
Wyatt brought home a goody bag from school the other day. It was filled with treats he is allergic to, so I tossed the bag in the trash. Later I found the bag hanging out the side of the can, just holding on by a corner. I pushed it deep inside and closed the lid, but not before sneaking out the 3 candy corns inside. This is why I don't allow candy in my house... I can't be trusted, even if it's in the trash!
